Italian car manufacturer, Alfa Romeo’s 4C is one of the most famous cars from the company. A light, zippy, small rear wheel drive sport car, the 4C would be entering the American markets soon. And Alfa Romeo is already planning on an upgrade for the two-seater wonder car to make it more U.S. market friendly.
The concept for the 4C has been derived from Alfa Romeo’s 8C Competizione. The concept has been voted as ‘most beautiful car concept’ by the readers of the German magazine Auto Bild. It has also been the recipient of the ‘Design award for concept cars & prototypes’ by Villa d’Este. It was even the official safety car for the SBK Superbike World Championship in its 2013 season.
The CEO of Alfa Romeo has informed that stiffness in the current version would be too high and the brakes need to be worked upon too. The 1.8 litre four-cylinder engine of the current 4C has a lot more potential than is currently being used. European customers are known to prefer a more down-to-earth nude driving machine; the Americans are richer in the taste for the want of richer equipments and fully-loaded versions of automobiles.
The U.S. version of the 4C would include different monocoques, different front & rear frames, reinforced suspensions and a better suspension tuning. Even the headlights are different from the European base version. The U.S. version indeed packs in a lot of different and improved features into itself, to make it more suited to the variedly different customer base of the U.S. market.
The prices for the new 4C from Alfa Romeo are yet open to speculation but expectations lie somewhere around $55,000 for the standard version and $70,000 for a fully-loaded version.
